Richard Branson is Founder of the Virgin Group. Conceived in 1970, the Virgin Group has gone on to grow successful businesses in sectors including mobile telephony, travel and transportation, financial services, leisure and entertainment and health and wellness.
Since starting the youth culture magazine “Student” at the age of 15, Richard Branson has consistently found entrepreneurial ways to drive positive change in the world. In 2004, he established Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group. This organisation unites people and entrepreneurial ideas to create opportunities for a better world.
Today, most of Richard’s time is dedicated to building businesses that make a positive difference and working with Virgin Unite and its incubated organisations, such as The Elders, The B Team, and many more. Richard lives in the British Virgin Islands with his wife Joan.
Virgin Unite is collaborating with incredible partners to address issues ranging from criminal justice reform and climate change to drug policy reform and ocean preservation. These partnerships have launched game-changing initiatives like The B Team, The Elders, ORRAA (formerly Ocean Unite), RMI (formerly The Carbon War Room), and The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator. Furthermore, Virgin Unite has supported many other organisations in breaking new ground and solving critical issues. With all overheads covered by the Branson family and the Virgin Group, 100% of donations go directly to the initiatives they create or support.
