The Premier Mountain Hideaway for Alpine Adventure
The Lodge is a stunning 9-bedroom mountain retreat, high in the Swiss Alps in the world-famous resort of Verbier. It is open year-round and is the ideal base from which to explore the Alps in summer & winter.
In winter let’s face it: you’re here for the skiing, and with over 400km of on-piste skiable terrain, Verbier is a skier (or snowboarder’s) paradise. In the summer months there’s just as much to do, with glorious weather so you can discover the Alps at a more relaxed pace.
The team of friendly and experienced staff at The Lodge is dedicated to tailor-making each guest experience. People may arrive as guests but often leave as friends.
The Lodge is part of Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson’s collection of unique retreats.
EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Skiing/Snowboarding
For the avid skier or snowboarder Verbier is paradise. There are five resorts spread across four valleys, all of which are tied into one single lift pass, offering you one of the largest skiable areas in the Alps – for all levels of skiers.
Snow shoeing
If you can walk, you can go snowshoeing. It doesn’t require a lot of special techniques, and the fun begins as soon as you put the snowshoes on! You can choose between a casual hike through the woods or a steep climb up the mountain. It also allows you to go places where skiers can’t!
Paragliding
Why not take to the sky and see the spectacular sites of The Matterhorn in one direction and Mont Blanc in the other? Take a tandem flight where you can sit back and enjoy the experience.
Sledging
It’s not just for kids! Although you may need the fearlessness of an 8 year old if you’re going to give the 10km run in Savoleyres a go! Of all the activities in Verbier, this is probably the one where you’re most likely to pick up some bruises – it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring a crash helmet!
Spa Treatments
After an active day on the mountains there’s a good chance your muscles will be aching after all that effort. Relax and unwind with a treatment in the capable hands of our resident beauty therapist. We use products from Aromatherapy Associates.
Mountain Biking
Verbier is home to the legendary Grand Raid Cristalp, stages of the Tour de Suisse and the Swiss downhill championships. With hundreds of kilometres of biking trails ranging in terrain and gradient there is something for every level of mountain biker and family activities.
Hiking
It doesn’t get more Swiss than a mountain hike. There are several different options to make the walk more substantial, and depending on your start point, it can be ranging from a 45 minute walk, a 3 hour hike with a swim in a mountain lake, to a full day’s 7 hour difficult hike.
Mountain Scooters
A fleet of ‘Arapaho’ mountain Scooters is kept by Télé-Verbier, the lift operators, and you can do a lap from the top of Ruinettes down to Médran which is a short walk from The Lodge. The run takes 20 minutes on average.
Explore the Swiss Alps
When the weather is glorious it’s more than likely you’ll be spending plenty of time on the mountain, but when you get back to The Lodge there’s still plenty to do. Pull off those ski or hiking boots and relax in the lounge with a cool drink curled up on a comfy sofa. Or if your muscles ache, take a dip in the indoor heated pool, or warm yourself up in the indoor or outdoor hot tubs.
The Lodge also has a fully equipped gym, a steam room and a party area. You can shoot pool or dance the night away all underneath a twinkling disco ball. If you want to take it easy, a film can be played for you and your friends or family on the large plasma screen while you enjoy a few drinks from the bar.
A Chalet for All Seasons
As you’d imagine, the scenery in the Alps varies enormously. No one can predict exactly when the snows will descend, but the average daytime temperature in winter hovers around -3°C/27°F with the coldest month in January, while temperatures in summer can average a balmy 26°C/79°F in July.
During the months of June, July, August and September you’ll enjoy pleasant weather with nice average temperatures – perfect for hiking and cycling the Alps.
Dining at The Lodge
The food served at The Lodge is one of the highlights of your stay, and a mix of Swiss and international cuisine is served. Dining can be as formal or informal as you wish, from full four-course gourmet meals to healthy meals with the children.
Meals can be themed, traditional or a mix! Ask for some ideas or give them yours. The Lodge also stocks a great range of international wines, top quality spirits, international beers and excellent house champagne. All meals at The Lodge are served communally around a shared table, but it is possible to organise private dinners in some rooms on request.
All guests are encouraged to treat The Lodge like their own home and are welcome to help themselves to drinks at any time. The team can cater for all dietary requirements and is happy to make adjustments or substitutions to the day’s menu according to your tastes and preferences.
