The Island

Sixteen islands, a handful of casitas, and the Pacific to explore.

Islas Secas is a private sixteen-island reserve in the Gulf of Chiriquí, off Panama’s Pacific coast, reached by a short flight from the mainland. Only a few solar-powered casitas dot the islands, so guest numbers stay tiny.

It runs almost entirely on renewable energy and conservation principles: humpback whales pass offshore, the reefs rival Coiba’s, and most of the archipelago is left wild. The few who stay largely have it to themselves.

Sixteen islands, a handful of casitas: the arithmetic is the luxury.

01 Accommodation

Solar casitas, jungle behind, cove below.

Casitas sit apart among the trees above private coves, timber and canvas, off-grid and quietly luxurious, with decks and, in some, plunge pools facing the Pacific.

Held together they suit a family or party; the whole reserve can be taken for a rare private-island escape.

02 Culinary

Farm-and-ocean cooking, off the grid.

The kitchen cooks what the sea and the reserve’s garden provide: just-caught fish, tropical fruit, Panamanian flavours, served at the beach club or wherever you like on the islands.

Private dinners on a beach and reef picnics are simply arranged; the pace is unhurried.

03 Experiences

Whales, reefs, and islands to explore.

Humpback whales pass through in season; the reefs, close to famous Coiba, offer some of the Pacific’s best diving and snorkelling. Surf breaks, sport fishing and empty islands fill the rest.

Kayak the coves, hike the jungle, or take a boat to a beach no one else will reach; the reserve is the playground.

04 Wellness

A wellness deck, and the reserve for the rest.

Treatments and yoga happen on open-air decks above the sea, and the reserve’s off-grid calm, no roads, no crowds, does the deeper work.

A cove swim, a jungle walk, and nothing on the schedule but the tide.

05 Service

A reserve team, and one designer over the whole stay.

Islas Secas staffs warmly and lightly, guides, naturalists and hosts who clearly love the remoteness and the conservation story.

Behind them sits your Satopia travel designer, who holds the casitas, times the flights and stays one call away throughout.

06 Setting

The Gulf of Chiriquí: Panama’s wild Pacific.

This corner of the Pacific is rich and little-visited: whale migrations, the biodiversity of nearby Coiba, and islands most maps ignore. Islas Secas protects a private slice of it.

To stay is to have a wild archipelago almost to yourself, and to help keep it that way.

Satopia Insider

In their own words.

A few words from guests who have stayed at the reserve, lightly shortened from their own reviews.

Sixteen islands and maybe a dozen guests. We snorkelled reefs as good as anything in the Pacific and had beaches entirely to ourselves. Off-grid and unforgettable.

We saw humpbacks from the boat on the first morning. The casitas are simple in the best way and the conservation ethos is real. A rare kind of place.

Extend your stay

Want to stay a little longer?
We'll plan that too.

Panama packs a lot into a small isthmus. A few we would pair the reserve with, each arranged as one seamless experience.
