Ol Jogi

A private family home on the Laikipia plateau, taken for your group alone, at the heart of a conservancy that has guarded its rhino and its wild horizons for generations.

The Home

A family home at the centre of a working conservancy, and for a few days it answers only to you.

Ol Jogi is not a lodge. It is a private house on a great swathe of the Laikipia plateau, a family home built up over decades, with its own art, its own gardens and its own quiet rhythm, opened to one group at a time.

Beyond the lawns lie tens of thousands of acres of protected wilderness, a working conservancy with a rhino sanctuary at its heart and a team who have given their lives to keeping it wild. You have the run of both.

The Home

A house, a family and a conservancy the size of a small country, and while you are here it belongs to you.

01 / 06
01 Accommodation

A private home, not a hotel, run for you alone.

The house sleeps your group across generous rooms set among gardens and old trees, with drawing rooms, a pool and long verandas looking out over the plateau. It is lived-in and personal, hung with the family collection, never a lobby or a front desk in sight.

You take the whole place on exclusive use, with a household that has run it for years, so the days feel less like a stay and more like being lent a much loved family estate.

02 Culinary

A kitchen that cooks for your table and no one else.

There is no menu and no sitting. The kitchen simply asks what you love and cooks it, long lunches on the veranda after a morning out, sundowners carried to a ridge, dinners under the stars with the plateau falling away in the dark.

Everything is grown, raised or brought in for your group alone, and the pace is yours to set from the first coffee to the last glass.

03 Experiences

Big game at dawn, and a rhino sanctuary few will ever see.

Drive out at first light with guides who know every animal on the land: elephant, lion, leopard, giraffe and the great herds moving across open country with almost no other vehicle in sight. Ol Jogi keeps its own rhino sanctuary, and to stand near these animals, protected here around the clock, is something very few people are ever given.

Track on foot, follow the anti-poaching team, sit by a waterhole at dusk, or take the children to meet the people who keep it all safe.

04 Wellness

The plateau does the slowing down for you.

Laikipia sits high and dry, with cool mornings, clean light and air that carries a long way. Days here have their own gravity, a swim, a book on the veranda, a massage arranged in your room, the horizon always somewhere in view.

There is nothing to rush for and nowhere to be, and most people find the quiet of the place does more than any spa could.

05 Service

A household and a conservation team who make it all effortless.

Inside, the house runs on the quiet competence of a staff who have looked after it for years and know how to read a group without ever intruding. Outside, guides, trackers and the conservation team open a private world to you and keep it safe while you are in it.

Behind them all sits your Satopia travel designer, who holds the house on your dates, arranges the flights and shapes every day around your family.

06 Setting

One family, one wild corner of Kenya, kept whole.

Laikipia is where Kenya still runs wild without fences, a mosaic of great private conservancies holding the line for the animals that need room. Ol Jogi is one of the oldest, protected and paid for by a single family for the good of the whole ecosystem.

To stay is to see conservation from the inside, and to know your visit helps keep the plateau exactly as it is.

Satopia Insider

A few things worth knowing.

The quiet, lived-in knowledge our travel designers and the team on the ground share once you arrive, the kind that only comes from knowing a place well.

Give Nairobi a night on the way in

The light aircraft to the plateau goes best in daylight, so an easy night in Nairobi at the front takes the pressure off connections and means you reach Ol Jogi unhurried, ready for a first evening on the veranda.

Ask for the walk with the anti-poaching team

A morning on foot with the rangers who protect the rhino is the thing guests talk about long after the game drives. It is humbling, quietly moving, and the children never forget it. Wear boots and give it plenty of time.

Extend your stay

Want to make more of it? We'll plan that too.

Ol Jogi begins and ends in Nairobi, so most travellers make a wider journey of it. A few we would pair it with, each arranged as one seamless experience.
