Drive out at first light with guides who know every animal on the land: elephant, lion, leopard, giraffe and the great herds moving across open country with almost no other vehicle in sight. Ol Jogi keeps its own rhino sanctuary, and to stand near these animals, protected here around the clock, is something very few people are ever given.

Track on foot, follow the anti-poaching team, sit by a waterhole at dusk, or take the children to meet the people who keep it all safe.

Between days on the conservancy, Ol Jogi keeps its own quiet rhythm: a pool set in lush gardens and water streams, dedicated spa therapists, a Moroccan-influenced steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. Laikipia sits at 5,600 feet, with cool mornings, long views and daytime temperatures averaging 24 degrees. Some days call for another game drive. Others are better spent doing very little at all.

There is nothing to rush for and nowhere to be, and most people find the quiet of the place does more than any spa could.

Ol Jogi protects 58,000 acres of Laikipia as a working wildlife conservancy. Behind the experience is a conservation operation encompassing wildlife security, veterinary care and rescue, habitat restoration, wildlife education and community programmes. Tourism is part of that model: all profits generated by guest stays are reinvested into Ol Jogi's conservation and community work.
