An Idyllic Private Island Retreat
— Condé Nast Traveller Gold List 2019 —
Sitting on a lush private island in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the multi-award winning Amilla Maldives immerses guests in natural beauty. Private pool villas are suspended above the verdant jungle palms or sit shaded by coconut trees on the sandy beach, and 40 overwater villas look across the endless blue waters surrounding the island. To preserve this idyllic setting, sustainability luxury is at the heart of Amilla to offer an experience which protects the natural environment and preserves Maldivian culture.
EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Snorkelling
Amilla offers a variety of snorkelling experiences to explore the crystal-blue waters of the islands. Head to Amilla's own house reef to spot a variety of colourful fish, friendly sharks and hawksbill turtles, take part in a snorkelling safari to search for green turtles amongst the spectacular coral reefs, or go on a guided snorkelling tour to see the coral and sea creatures glow as the sun sets.
Sea Glamping
This luxury glamping experience offers a memorable evening sleeping under the stars. Guests will spend the night in a high-tech, air-conditioned bubble tent which gives a 360-degree view of the Maldives natural beauty, and wake up to the sounds of nature the next morning. The experience can also be personally tailored to include luxurious extras such as massages, private dinners, and cinema evenings.
Ocean Excursions
Amilla’s sailing excursions offer a chance to get closer to the Maldives' local wildlife. Some of the activities on offer include heading out with an expert guide to spot wild dolphins playing at sunset, snorkelling amongst the many fish that live amongst the stunning coral reefs, and swimming with curious turtles for an unforgettable day out in nature.
Watersports
Get out on the water with one of Amilla’s exciting water sport activities. Take things at a leisurely pace with a few hours of kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding or if you're feeling more adventerous, sign up for a wakeboarding, seabob, jetpack or fun-tubing session. Activities can be adapted so there is something for all ages and all experiences.
Luxury Yacht Charter
Explore the Maldives in style by chartering Amilla’s luxury private yacht, Blend. Cruise around the islands of the Baa Atoll Biosphere and take in the spectacular view of white sands, clear waters and vibrant house reefs whilst relaxing onboard under the care of Amilla’s friendly staff. Head out for half and full day excursions, sunset cruises, or even for overnight stays for a truly private, unforgettable experience.
Diving
The Sultan Kids’ Club and Teen Program are packed with activities to keep both younger and older kids entertained. Creative and educational activities such as coconut hunts, pizza making, and a new Mini Marine Biologists Programme have been designed especially for children age four to 12, whilst older kids and teens can sign up for DJ lessons and night-time glow rider bicycle tours.
Fun for Kids and Teens
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Maldives with a diving session led by one of Amilla's certified guides. The island is next to a large number of world-class dives sites and the Baa Atoll UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve offers an amazing diversity of coral formations and marine life, including manta rays, turtles, and even dolphin and whale sharks.
Sustainability and Authenticity
Amilla Maldives currently has thirty sustainability initiatives in place to help protect the islands’ pristine natural environment, ranging from working with local suppliers and growing its own fresh produce to lower its carbon footprint, to coral planting to protect the reefs and their ecosystems. In another step to support the local community, Amilla works with many Maldivian bands, DJs and dancers and champions local gastronomy to help guests discover the real Maldives.
Gastronomy at Amilla
Whether you’re in the mood for homemade pasta, Tandoor specialities, sushi and sashimi, or traditional Maldivian cuisine, fresh local ingredients are at the forefront of Amilla’s eight restaurants. Organic vegetables are grown in Amilla’s own garden, fresh eggs come from hens who roam around the chicken coop, and bananas and coconuts are sourced directly from the island. Bespoke menus can also be created for every lifestyle, whether you’re vegetarian or vegan or following a specific eating plan such as low carb, keto, or paleo. For extra special moments, the team can create private dining experiences in romantic spots across the island, from enjoying an al fresco breakfast as the sun rises to dining under the stars.
Restore and Revive Body and Mind
Nestled in the shade of the jungle, Amilla’s holistic spa offers a complete wellness program which takes care of both body and mind. The excellent range of facilities have been designed to energise and include separate cardio and strength studios, a fun outdoor Jungle Gymnasium, a round island running and cycling track, and a range of classes including yoga, Pilates, and one-on-one tennis coaching. For an indulgent moment of relaxation, choose from classic massage therapies such as Balinese, Thai, and hot stone, or book Amilla’s unique ‘Dhivehi Beys’, inspired by Maldivian traditional medicine and based around herbal treatments which harness the power of the island’s plants.
