Late Steve Jobs was well-known for being fond of Japanese Zen, culture and food. He travelled to Japan several times where he felt a resonance with Zen and his practice of meditation. Zen had a profound effect on Jobs, manifesting itself in his philosophy and aesthetic sensibility. Meditation helped him calm the mind & for his intuition to blossom. He described it as the moment one starts to see things more clearly and be in the present more. His travels would end up changing the business world.
While in Japan, he often went to the country’s old capital Kyoto, with its unique traditions, to soak-in the surroundings and enjoy the food. In Kyoto, he paid multiple visits to the spectacular moss gardens of Kokedera. This moss temple is said to be his favorite place in Japan. A Unesco World Heritage Site with beautiful temple gardens with delicate different varieties of moss. Their simple Perfection and Immaculately grace inspired Jobs’s craftsmanship, which regarded simplicity as a virtue and insisted on a perfectionist attention to detail.
