After Jones was caught in a devastating avalanche while climbing in the frozen wilderness of Romania’s Transylvanian Alps, he dragged himself to safety over three agonising days, only to discover that his true ordeal had yet to begin.
Following two years in which he was unable to walk, Ken’s will-power and determination got him not only to walk again but also to become a serious endurance cyclist and climber.
The Fan Dance Race Series was inspired by Ken’s recovery and return to health. Originally known as the Exercise High Walk, today it goes by its unofficial name, The Fan Dance.
Historically this grueling journey has been an integral part of the British SAS Selection course and was first introduced as an essential test following WWII.
This is the world’s oldest and most famous Special Forces selection test across the Pen y Fan Mountain in the Brecon Beacons in Wales, and is a personal feat and journey of immense mental strength and drive.
